Purpose of the Qualification

The combination of learning outcomes that comprise this qualification will provide the qualifying learner with vocational knowledge and skills appropriate to the context of production technology.

This qualification provides learners with the range of learning and skills required to be able to perform a series of activities to support manufacturing, engineering and technology processes. Learners will acquire a range of skills in the identification of production parameters in manufacturing, engineering and technology industries and basic strategies to achieve them.

The qualifying learner will be able to:

  • Communicate production and manufacturing related operational information to a variety of end users
  • Optimise organisational structures, functions and processes in order to contribute to achieving production specifications
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment through contributions made to production activities individually and in working groups

      Purpose of the Qualification

      This qualification is for any individual who is, or wishes to be, involved in a metals production environment and be able to perform a range of activities to operate and maintain process equipment for a particular process or operation within a specific metals production environment. Such processes or operations will include extracting, melting, refining, casting, rolling, shearing, forging and other metallurgical processes. In general, individuals at this level in the metal production environment will operate a furnace, casting machine or a converter among other process machines or equipment.

      These are large and complex machines which require training a learner over an extended period of time before s/he acquires sufficient competence to operate them. An individual acquiring this qualification will be able to contribute towards the smooth and efficient operation of the production processes in the metal production sector.

      The core component contains generic competencies covering, inter alia:

      • Quality procedures.
      • Organisational procedures, health, safety and environmental procedures.
      • Preparation, setting-up and operating process equipment.
      • Performing first line maintenance.

        Purpose of the Qualification

        The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners, education and training providers and employers with the standards and the range of learning required to work effectively in various sub-sectors of the industry as automotive salespersons. The primary skill that is recognized in this qualification is the ability to apply the fundamental competencies of automotive sales with reference to recognizing and responding to prospective clients of the organisation within identified functional areas of sales.

        This qualification focuses on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to perform as a competent person in the automotive sales industry. It also provides learners who have gained relevant experience in the workplace with an opportunity to obtain credits through an RPL process.

        This qualification substantiates the natural progression of a journeyman into the sales industry. There is little articulation sideways with the exception of “Service Advisor” at the same level or graduating vertically into a management related qualification.

        A person acquiring this qualification will have the skills, knowledge and experience to:

          • Plan quarterly sales.
          • Perform vehicle sales.
          • Ensure client satisfaction.
