Determine Material Requirements NQF 4

The Determine Material Requirements NQF 4 skills programme equips learners with the ability to assess, calculate, and plan the materials needed to support production and operational activities. It focuses on interpreting work requirements, estimating quantities, coordinating resources, and maintaining efficiency within supply and production processes. This programme prepares employees to contribute to accurate planning, cost control, and improved workflow within manufacturing and industrial environments.

Purpose of this programme:

Qualifying learners are able to plan for and determine material requirements in a global logistics environment to support the achievement of production schedule. They are further able to identify problems and take appropriate corrective action.

This achieved through:

  • Determining the inputs in the Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Being able to calculate basic material requirements.
  • Understanding the material requirements planning and inventory processes
  • Understanding inventory types
  • Understanding inventory cost factors
  • Inventory control measures.

The following underlying factors are addressed:

Supply chain capacity and constraints are considered.
Clear individual lead times are established.
Planning is completed within agreed time frames and meets organisational demands.

Understanding confirmed:
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Concept of material flow planning from source to destination (Supply chains)
Dependent and independent demand
Availability of supplier resources
Existence of Bill of Materials (BOM)
International Commerce (INCO) terms
Impact of lead times
